Meeting opened at 8:08 with 18 members Treasury: $1759.47 nothing earmarked so ours to spend. Mail: a reorder for checks came but we dont need it. 501.3c: WE HAVE IT! Now need to talk about how to use it. Website apparently had a lot to do with the approval, it helps that it looks so professional. Dues will be considered a donation. USHPA Updates: Only new thing is reinstating the safe pilot awards, but instead of nice pins will have less nice pins but a jacket as well. Problems down in Tennessee Tree Toppers with commercial school nearby landing in same LZ. But USHPA is solvent. The mag wants more hang gliding stories, submissions are rather lopsided right now. Rick Fitz may right up the resurgance of new pilots. Greg’s Training Hill: he’s started teaching again. Has a few students, a couple are crossovers from paragliding. If anyone wants to knock the rust off, he…

Mail: one letter. Missed what it was, hope it wasn’t important. Covid: nobody we know seems to have it; people starting to get vaccinated. USHPA meeting news: lots of discussion about what is an “official” USHPA event. Some RRG discussion, including ski resort sites that wanted higher levels of insurance. Safety and Training committess split into HG/PG and renamed Safety and Certification. The organization is solvent, with no major lawsuits. 501.3c getting closer to being official, submitted paperwork still grinding through bureaucracy. New Sites: won’t offer insurance unless asked. Paul has spotted a likely place near Olive, large swath of trees cut out, ready to go. Snow at Launch: road getting closer to passable for all vehicles,…

Meeting started at 8:15 via Zoom, 7 members grew to 8. Treasury: $1337 Hosting and domain fees paid by donation. Chapter renewal: USHPA being annoying in the way they have been the last few years. Want us to pay insurance to protect work parties. So we decided we are no longer a USHPA chapter. Should hear about 501.3.c in a couple weeks. USHPA news: monthly board meetings. Steve Pearson is president. Nearly 5 hour long meetings. One main aim is making it easier for instructors. Website: work has sort of plateaued, but Mike will take requests. (side note: the second syllable of “plateau” has nearly every vowel except the one it sounds like) T-shirts: haven’t been designed yet. Other merchandise has been looked at by Fred, will put out something. Road Report: Impassible. Entry slope is all ice. May put out salt drum. General Discussion: what about other sites? Now…

Meeting of the Hudson Valley Free Flyers Zoom Recording Available HERE until January. Passcode: 8MfU$V.4 Meeting started 8:15 with 7 members (eventually 13) including Tom Galvin attending via zoom. Treasury: $227.94, after money spent paying back Paul Blood for services and Paul Bouloukos for club filing. This is actually a normal balance for this time of year. But we’re not going to have the typical Christmas party bump. All memberships will expire on New Year’s and then all renewals can be done online. We will discover what effect this has on the replenishment of finances. Mail – we got nothing. Another Tree Landing – An H3 instructor from Kitty Hawk got hit by snow and ran off the hill right into the trees below the west launch. Control frame damage but not much else. Tree guy from New Jersey got the previously decorative gliders out of the trees behind Tony’s. We know from these we…

Started at 8:05 via Zoom, eventually 13 attending Treasury: $1228, better than normal for this year USHPA report: new vote got Paul re-elected, but now is the regional director of 16 states. Tiki Mashy back on board. 8 directors voted in, 2 more to be elected to stabilize at the new reduced number. Wilhad is worried about new glider shop owners having problems to join at new expenses. Paul thinks the majority of the board is interested in making being an instructor easier, though improving the RRG will take the better part of a year if possible. PASA should become absorbed into the RRG which should help. Question about observer system: not considered broken so for now should not be changed. 501.3.c filing: Bobo has contacted attorney in Albany, so we now have the final paperwork to get the nonprofit status. $1300 filing fee. (have to hope we get enough donations to cover that…

Since Paul’s in his underwear, he hears voices from down the stairwell: It’s a SUBPOENA! For SNYHGPA. Paul’s a bit bleary but by the time he’s semidressed and downstairs he finds the guy in his house. The deal is some PG guy was injured at work, but turns out he was paragliding, so we are on the hook. The pilot was a club member in 2013, but passed away in PG flight in Columbia last year. Then the S. hits the F. and ricochets…
