Minutes of the Club Board Meeting: June 27, 2026 Meeting Attendees Nine in attendance: 1. Meeting Opening and Logistics: The meeting was called to order on June 27, @ 7:53pm in the 3rd and Company Lakeside restaurant in Walker Valley, NY. Treasurer’s Report: The Treasurer submitted a report on the club’s current financial standing and the status of the donation refund initiative. Financial Status Account Balance Checking Account $12,659.02 Savings Account $28,170.92 Donation Refund Status Tax Implications for Donors The Board discussed the requirement for donors who previously claimed tax deductions for their contributions. Such individuals are required to file amended tax returns for the year the deduction was claimed to reflect the receipt of the refund. The meeting started shortly after 8 pm on May 28 with 16 members eventually joining via Zoom. Next Meeting – will aim for an in-person meeting, perhaps at Third & Company where the Christmas Party was held. Official Club Status – we were granted an extension on filing taxes due to our non-profit status.  Filing as a USHPA club is waiting for the club waiver and bylaws to be finalized.  Next meeting will include a member vote on the bylaws, which will be sent out electronically for everyone to review. Website Updates Hosner Mountain – the family is offering rights to land in a farm which should be open for perpetuity.   The only thing holding up opening launch is the request to put in a trail link to the Appalachian Trail, which is felt necessary because the landowners leading to launch will not be there forever. Treasurer report by Shanni M/M to approve Mike 2nd Jane Old Business Currently HVFF consists of 16 members Hosner Mt. ongoing plans to submit applications with fabricated launch ramp and two footpaths one from the north and the other from the south as access from the lower parking lots and the A.T. President Wayne has been in contact with Ed Clark (superintendent forestry service) overseeing the area of A.T., for guidance developing applications to Nation Park Service which governs the area of interest to HVFF (launch area). Website still needs some modifications to satisfy USHPA in regard to chapter insurance. Chairpersons of HG and PG for our flying sites are needed, Wayne had volunteered to be HG /chair, Jamie will be PG Chair at Hosner and Greg Black will be HG chair for his area after easements are secured. Recap courtesy of Shani Schechter A brief recap of the HVFF club meeting on 10/14/23. Since 2016, Wayne Neckles, HVFF president, has endeavored to get Ellenville Flight Park under pilot ownership, working extensively behind the scenes in talks with Tony Covelli and the Open Space Institute to broker an agreement. On 9/27/23, Wayne reached an agreement to buy both the Ellenville Launch area (16.67 acres) and the LZ (13 acres) from Tony Covelli, the site owner. The LZ plot goes from the creek to the edge of Tony’s training hill, between the road and the organic farm. The price for the Launch and the LZ together is $650,000. The agreement is to pay Tony a $200,000 downpayment by 1/6/24 to keep the deal, and then $90,000 per year for the next 5 years, interest free. The site would become an USHPA site and thus get USHPA insurance. The HVFF club will…
