HVFF Meeting Minutes, December 16, 2020

Meeting of the Hudson Valley Free Flyers

Zoom Recording Available HERE until January. Passcode: 8MfU$V.4

Meeting started 8:15 with 7 members (eventually 13) including Tom Galvin attending via zoom.

Treasury: $227.94, after money spent paying back Paul Blood for services and Paul Bouloukos for club filing. This is actually a normal balance for this time of year. But we’re not going to have the typical Christmas party bump. All memberships will expire on New Year’s and then all renewals can be done online. We will discover what effect this has on the replenishment of finances.

Mail – we got nothing.

Another Tree Landing – An H3 instructor from Kitty Hawk got hit by snow and ran off the hill right into the trees below the west launch. Control frame damage but not much else.

Tree guy from New Jersey got the previously decorative gliders out of the trees behind Tony’s. We know from these we need longer rope; Wilhad will donate one to the club rescue kit.

Elections – 26 votes so far. All approve retaining the current board. This is enough for the 1/3 quorum required, so the vote carries.

USHPA update: The chapter is being renewed under new name. This will insure the officers and club activities even though we don’t insure the site.

501.3.c is filed and passed the first review. Will take another 8 to 12 weeks to percolate through the bureaucracy.

Website – Mike has been doing many tweaks, addressing member directory page problem, navigation problems, etc. Brian VH will learn backup management. Mike will work with Jimmy D about interfacing the website with the club’s facebook page.

Christmas Party – wait to definitely postpone until january. Maybe do a zoom cocktail hour instead. BYOB.

Road Construction – no reason to discuss at this time of year. Wait for winter to finish its work.

Suggestion for Zoom Meetings – send out calendar invite to make it easier for members to keep track. This can be done by forwarding the entire email that zoom generates instead of just the link.
