Call to order, 7:00. Treasurer report by Shanni M/M to approve Mike 2nd Jane Old Business Currently HVFF consists of 16 members Hosner Mt. ongoing plans to submit applications with fabricated launch ramp and two footpaths one from the north and the other from the south as access from the lower parking lots and the A.T. President Wayne has been in contact with Ed Clark (superintendent forestry service) overseeing the area of A.T., for guidance developing applications to Nation Park Service which governs the area of interest to HVFF (launch area). Website still needs some modifications to satisfy USHPA in regard to chapter insurance. Chairpersons of HG and PG for our flying sites are needed, Wayne had volunteered to be HG /chair, Jamie will be PG Chair at Hosner and Greg Black will be HG chair for his area after easements are secured. HVFF Meeting Recap – Oct. 14, 2023
Recap courtesy of Shani Schechter A brief recap of the HVFF club meeting on 10/14/23. Since 2016, Wayne Neckles, HVFF president, has endeavored to get Ellenville Flight Park under pilot ownership, working extensively behind the scenes in talks with Tony Covelli and the Open Space Institute to broker an agreement. On 9/27/23, Wayne reached an agreement to buy both the Ellenville Launch area (16.67 acres) and the LZ (13 acres) from Tony Covelli, the site owner. The LZ plot goes from the creek to the edge of Tony’s training hill, between the road and the organic farm. The price for the Launch and the LZ together is $650,000. The agreement is to pay Tony a $200,000 downpayment by 1/6/24 to keep the deal, and then $90,000 per year for the next 5 years, interest free. The site would become an USHPA site and thus get USHPA insurance. The HVFF club will…
HVFF Meeting Minutes – October 5, 2022
October 5, 2022 (delayed from September; next meeting Wed Oct 26th) Meeting started 8:37 with 13 members, eventually 15. Treasury: $3566 with all bills paid. 66 members Website: Mechanism still not fixed for getting people to register. Rolan recommends setting up Zelle or Venmo to save service charges. There’s some worry because both transfer money instantly so mistakes are hard to catch. Mike’s also working on the Connecticut club website. USHPA update: Election is on. VOTE! 4 BOD slots opened up, all can vote. Again, Paul suggests himself, Matt Taber, Jamie Sheldon (she’s very involved internationally), Bill Hughes (current treasurer), Tiki Mashi. Land Purchase: Town is making Tony jump through hoops for subdivision. Should finish this month then will be able to sell to Open Spaces by end of year. The club will control the road after purchase by agreement, 50 ft wide passageway, and will be able to maintain the gate and drainage.…

Meeting of the Hudson Valley Free Flyers Zoom Recording Available HERE until January. Passcode: 8MfU$V.4 Meeting started 8:15 with 7 members (eventually 13) including Tom Galvin attending via zoom. Treasury: $227.94, after money spent paying back Paul Blood for services and Paul Bouloukos for club filing. This is actually a normal balance for this time of year. But we’re not going to have the typical Christmas party bump. All memberships will expire on New Year’s and then all renewals can be done online. We will discover what effect this has on the replenishment of finances. Mail – we got nothing. Another Tree Landing – An H3 instructor from Kitty Hawk got hit by snow and ran off the hill right into the trees below the west launch. Control frame damage but not much else. Started at 8:05 via Zoom, eventually 13 attending Treasury: $1228, better than normal for this year USHPA report: new vote got Paul re-elected, but now is the regional director of 16 states. Tiki Mashy back on board. 8 directors voted in, 2 more to be elected to stabilize at the new reduced number. Wilhad is worried about new glider shop owners having problems to join at new expenses. Paul thinks the majority of the board is interested in making being an instructor easier, though improving the RRG will take the better part of a year if possible. PASA should become absorbed into the RRG which should help. Question about observer system: not considered broken so for now should not be changed. 501.3.c filing: Bobo has contacted attorney in Albany, so we now have the final paperwork to get the nonprofit status. $1300 filing fee. (have to hope we get enough donations to cover that…

The White Wolf New H2 pilotsKim: started with Greg 5 years ago with Greg, has been to Morningside and Valle de Bravo.Tim Curran: training with Greg for 4 years, done some aerotow.Ricardo: learned to fly in Ellenville years ago, but now is back. Been to Valle de Bravo. Treasurer’s Report: $1576 But….So there Paul is, doing his morning yoga, when he hears loud knocks on the door. Since Paul’s in his underwear, he hears voices from down the stairwell: It’s a SUBPOENA! For SNYHGPA. Paul’s a bit bleary but by the time he’s semidressed and downstairs he finds the guy in his house. The deal is some PG guy was injured at work, but turns out he was paragliding, so we are on the hook. The pilot was a club member in 2013, but passed away in PG flight in Columbia last year. Treasurers report Current available funds: $1008.79 HVFF Website and domain payments for 2020 have been paid. 2020 Club Meeting Dates Club meeting dates for 2020 were distributed at the meeting. Copies were handed out to meeting attendees. When the bylaws are finalized, we will update on the new website. What is the situation with HVFF’s not for profit status? We have to be a “B” or “C” to be non-profit at state and federal level. We are going for “B” which is educational. State non-profit filing will be this week. If everything goes through, we should be able to launch new website in 2-4 weeks (before the next club meeting in Feb. 2020). 5013c IRS 1023 form New/Revised Board Roles Discussed…
