Meeting started 8:35 with 7 members via Zoom
The August in-person meeting will be passed over because it’s not flyable so don’t expect people. But the old white wolf (now paper mill) is holding a spot for us when we need it!
- Officer’s meeting will be Thursday September 9 via zoom
Land Purchase News – progressive meetings with Tony are converging on the plan.
- need to create a fundraising/purchase committee, hope to come up with names during the officer’s meeting and finalize in open meeting next month
- $650K for LZ and launch cutout. he will hold that number for us.
- Tony will not charge interest during the payment
- 5 year plan may be possible if we can negotiate the down payment
- tax and insurance burden goes to us at initiation of purchase process
- target purchase date of Jan 1 2022.
- Tony will hold the note and lien until paid off.
- Road Access easement for launch will be included since we only will have the launch cutout. This easement will include an agreement on maintenance.
- Rights to Ellenville flight park will also be part of the deal.
Notes:
- This comes out to an average of $130K per year.
- Free Flight Foundation will likely help us out, but out of caution we are assuming NO help. Below are possible numbers:
- 200 people is $650/pp/year + taxes + insurance + maintenance, but we hope to have more sign up to save Ellenville. 300 annual members could likely keep things down to $500/year including all costs.
- Will want to think about how we manage charging for camping during this year
Summary: we can plan temporary increased membership assuming no help, then cut down the time needed if we get help from FFF or elsewhere.
Call for Volunteers: Will need to schedule lawn mowing duty since Paul Blood will be moving to Maryland in a few years. A weekly roster should do the trick, with every volunteer doing the 1-2 hour job once a week. If we mow more than once a week, it takes more time to mow.
