Reminder about SPRING flying....

Just an annual reminder:
Be wary when choosing to fly in Spring air.
Without getting into long explanations... there is a likelihood that there will be a higher than "normal" level of turbulence in the air between now and Memorial day... EVEN on light velocity days.
Cold nights, exposed rocks (no leaves), cold air aloft, and warm sun...all contribute to very strong thermals and the associated sink (honking sink).
Ricky Fitz. clocked (in his hang glider) a thermal going up at 25 MPH last weekend.
I went weightless a bunch of times. (and went up like a bullet)
I landed mid-day and it took all my skill and concentration.
Mid-day spring air is not beginner stuff... and not fun stuff.
Now I remember why I prefer to wait till later in the afternoon...
That's all.... carry on! ??
