For anyone who has not seen the discussion on FaceBook or otherwise heard the news, there is currently a wildfire in Minnewaska State Park. As of yesterday (8/29) it was out of control; it is located on the ridge adjacent to Resnick and the prison, right in the area we often fly when following the ridge to the north. Ryan has spotted a firefighting helicopter ferrying water from Maratanza (behind launch) to the location of the fire.

It is probably ill-advised to fly hang gliders or paragliders at Ellenville until the wildfire has been put out.
