There are several sites on Ellenville Mountain, with two launches and a practice hill/landing field managed by the Hudson Valley Free Flyers, and a set of launches and landing field managed by the Ellenville Flight Park. A map of these locations is shown to the right.
Many members of HVFF may fly all launches, but for insurance reasons we ask that launches and landings be paired as shown on the map. Launches off the uninsured road ramp launch can land in either field. All require their own waiver and membership, though if circumstances require land in the safest field regardless of membership.
Though the HVFF does not manage Ellenville Flight Park, due to high pilot crossover use information is provided here as a convenience; but can not be expected to be kept up to date. Check with the Tony Covelli at the flight park to confirm vital information.
The practice hill can be used both to practice launching and as an LZ for the ramp launches. Since these usages have different requirements it is listed here both as a stand alone practice hill and as the LZ for the Ramp Launch.
The road launch was constructed for our use by the New York Department of Transportation. It is used when the final roads up to the other launches are impassible due to snow or ice.
