Treasury report
Checking………………………………………………………….$15,783.63 (general operational funds)
Savings…………………………………………………….……..$37,924.69 (donated for specific purposes)
72 entities left to pay back (of 332)
$210,279 has been paid back
$12,655.26 = money gifted to “general treasury” – (instead of refund)
$4,850 = money gifted for “any future land purchase – (instead of refund)
$26,351 = “Liability remaining” = (Amount still needed to refund to people/entities)
Most of those not paid back are still mysteries, such as Benevity.
May need to send back to gofundme to have them reimburse. Took a nearly thousand dollar hit on paypal fees (3.5%)
The club needs to file tax returns for last year. Given the complexity of the donations process a professional is called for, and Wayne is in discussion with Ross Wisdom to be hired for this purpose, or to recommend someone else. Wayne has filed for an extension.
New Sites Under Investigation
Hosner Mountain
- A Saturday June 22 hike up to find original launch is planned for 9 am. Wayne will post meeting place (miller hill parking lot for Appalachian trail).
- Will also meet with the Jackson family about the LZ, and there’s a hay field to be investigated.
Woodstock Overlook
- Saturday June 15 hike to find original launch.
- There is a Woodstock ranger station that says the property is managed by the DEC.
- We will need to evaluate tree removal and submit a proposal.
- There’s an overlook parking lot. Used to be able to drive up to the towers, but things have changed and now even the rangers can’t drive up there. Will investigate deal to let occasional vehicle up, perhaps offer maintenance in exchange for vehicle entry?
- There are 3 LZs right in front: a conservatory, and two capped dumps that are grassed over.
Bear Mountain
- Problem is the LZ is a soccer field that may be in use, so likely only good during the week.
- Run by palisades park commission.
Beacon
- Margery Grove(?) from Scenic Hudson didn’t think there’d be a problem with it being used.
- Columbia university has a space that would be ideal for an LZ.
