Treasury Report
- 66 members, more PG members than usual.
- ~ $4800 in treasury, owe some money for mowing, at ~ $100/mow, $600+
USHPA report
- Board member elections coming up: vote for 4; 8 end up on board, who then select 2 more appropriate for their needs. Paul recommends himself, Matt Taber, Tikki Mashi, Bill Hughes, Jamie Sheldon.
- Been very quiet, next meeting in September.
- FAA has comment period on drones, we are worried that drones are requesting too many privileges because there is now big money (like Amazon) behind drones.
- RRG may have some money issues coming up, not dire yet. Some sites requiring coverage as high as $5 million.
Website
- Membership directory not working, not yet resolved.
- New issue: people can no longer register.
- Both are WordPress problems, being worked on.
Ellenville happenings
New owners: Kelly’s field (across stream) will be planted with greenhouses, cannabis, and orchards. Pumpkin patch (next to the LZ) will be left natural.There are fires on the mountain, near the prison, Wurtsboro, etc. The helicopters may be more of a risk to us than the fires. May want to discourage flying for now.
Hyner Labor Day Weekend!
Everyone’s invited, $30, fill out a waiver on www.hynerclub.com. Right now looks like we will be flying Jack’s Friday and Saturday, Hyner on Sunday.
Rick Fitz Flying Report
It’s been great ever since he came back from the Philippines. 7 new ratings! Hang 3s: Nick, Rocco, Billy, Captain Ron, Carl; Mike Strother and Ricardo are now a Hang 4! Taylor and Martin working on H3. Congratulations to all!
Other Items of Interest
- Greg in Connecticut has been certified as instructor, wants to do club sponsored instruction. There are insurance issues with not taking money, and also protecting the club.
- Ricardo has been flying with the PG community, exposed to new sites he’d like to introduce the HVFF club to. Ascutney, Mohawk trail, etc. We may put a list of groups on the website. Mike, Cathleen are heading to Crestline next week.
- Road work party needed? Just need to fill ruts, etc. Wayne will take a look at it soon and then plan if needed. We have perhaps become spoiled by the condition of the road in the last few years?
