HVFF Meeting Minutes – July 14, 2022

Meeting started at 8:35 via Zoom, 14 members joined by end.

Treasury has over $4600, but owes gas and repairs costs for mowing.

Speaking of which… Kenny has been doing the mowing, needs to mow slightly more than once a week. A belt breaks each time.

USHPA report: most recent business is drones are getting more locked down by FAA. They are impinging on flying sites more and more.

Flying Report: Ricky Fitz checked in from the LZ, most people got around an hour. He announced new Hang 3s : Rocco, Captain Ron, Billy. And Mike Strother got his hang 4. Congratulations to all the new graduates!

  • Facebook gathers more activity than website.
  • There are some issues with member’s list, some old information to update on some pages.
  • Windtalker connection is broken.

LZ Surveying – Open Spaces gave us 50 foot right of way on the road all the way from route 52 to the launch area, plus 60 acres around the launch with a drainage easement near the bottom. The Ellenville Planning board says the amount of trees cleared is outside zoning regulations but we should be able to get a variance awarded in a few months.

Other Items:

  • Paul was at Kitty Hawk 50th Spectacular, and it was indeed spectacular. Usually 3rd week of May.
  • 50th Anniversary of 1st launch at Ellenville (Don Sylvester). High school physics project, launched off the guardrail.
