Meeting started at 8:05 Via zoom with 14 members, maxed out at 16.
Treasury Report: $2937 after donations plus paying back work party expenses. This includes a donation to the Cragsmoor fire department.
USPHA report: quiet meeting. Nothing new except the new board members coming in.
Work Party Report: Very successful – good turnout and nice weather. Everything was done including diverters, new gravel laid, road smoothed out at gate. Since we didn’t have a work party last year it shows how good shape we’ve got the road in. May want to look at the launch contour for future work parties.
Other Site Maintenance: Greg brought up an issue: the field behind the white fence has had PG pilots knocking out boards. Nearly 30 boards down. We should fix it, but…are we really the cause or is it just lack of routine maintenance? Need to meet with the landowner, inspect the boards and figure out what to do. But Jane says the landowner would actually like to take the fence down.
Speaking of parties…
Christmas Party – Saturday January 8th at the place that replaced the White Wolf. Interior has been redone, looks good.
Flight park purchase The framework is in place, just some details of the exact payment structure are being worked out. Discussions continue about the land on the hill above launch: club wants it for parking, Tony wants to hold onto training hill space. The club will get a strip along the crest of the hill above the setup area.
Flying Stories:
- Last Ellenville flight in recent memory was Thanksgiving Eve. Otherwise weather has been terrible. Ricardo pushed that one, straight in but light. Some PG were up. Rick worked his way up as bags fell so he didn’t join them and went up. They came back joined him. Dan Guido from Cooperstown was there. A PG went into the trees behind launch, throwing his chute after practicing big ears. No harm beyond a twisted ankle, thankfully.
- Ricardo told stories about Valle de Bravo, plans are being laid by club members for another trip. Paul talked about launching off volcanoes near Bravo.
- Kim and Romano went to Lookout Mountain, 3 flights there, 1 flight at Henson’s. Romano is learning PG!
