Meeting started at 8:06 with 14 members
Treasury: $1741.44. All current expenses paid, internet bill may be next up. There are two ways to join so need to keep syncing up.
USHPA report: most time spent on getting RRG to deal with people flying XC and landing at insured sites. Just a matter of technical wording. USHPA online store closed while reworking how merchandise is handled.
Meeting Space: Cohen’s bakery discussed, outdoor BBQ in LZ, 3rd and Company in Walker Valley.
501.3.c: little details cleaned up and submitted, expect decision in about a month.
Website: small details fixed, sign-in form had a glitch with uploading picture: will address right now by instructing people not to upload until after the initial registration process. Will work on club store over the summer. Jane and Fred will be working on apparel.
Club Notifications: everyone should be getting them. If not, subscribe to the newsletter on the site.
Road Work Party: Will need some gravel to fill in ruts and potholes. If we have at least a dozen we could do it in one day. Perhaps schedule soon? Some of the diverters are coming apart, need to be redone. Some salted sand distributed before winter would be very useful. A barrel by the gate would be useful. Dumping some gravel right on the entrance to 52 would be nice. Will ask around to see if we can get it done for free.
Tree Rescue: the Connecticut club posted a nice tree rescue video, oriented towards paragliding. We will also set up our own tree rescue clinic.
New Pilot: Nick Richmond from Maine trained at Morningside, has discovered Ellenville is the most consistent mountain to travel to.
Final Discussion
Rick Fitzpatrick led the round of flight reports. Would like to get the bullseye back in the field.
Middletown will start towing again on April 10. Will even offer gliders that are pre setup.
Could we restart the fun meets? Need somebody willing to spearhead it.
Discussion of continuing zoom meetings even when we can still meet in person.
For those who don’t know, Greylock cleared out an LZ a few years ago, and now the new city council wants to put a new nature center there, which would shut down flying. Gary Trudeau is fighting it.
Jane looks pretty good on soft lens; it would be nice if everyone else could do the same – a lot easier on the eyes when looking at a screen full of knuckleheads.
